There is an apparent breach of security at the Murtala
Muhammed International Airport, Lagos as a suspected Boko Haram member
was caught on the runway on Wednesday, December 2, 2015.
According to sources, the Islamist terrorist group attempted to blow
up an aircraft on the tarmac but was foiled by the alertness of a
captain “who used engine thrust to blow away the suspect”. The suspect
was chased down into the bushes,
where he was finally caught and
apprehended.
A traveler, who witnessed the scene from a descending aircraft
narrated the situation thus: “I just arrived in Lagos on a flight from
Owerri. As the plane was taxiing to a halt, I looked out the window and
saw something rolling on the runway like a piece of luggage that fell
out of a moving plane. When we disembarked the aircraft, I realize that
it was a man that had been knocked down to the ground by the air from
another aircraft on the tarmac.
Suspect arrested at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos on Wednesday, December 2, 2015
“The man got up and was severely bruised from rolling on the tarmac.
He took off into the bush by the tarmac in spite of the severe bruising
he suffered. Some ground staff tried to catch him, but till we were
picked up from the tarmac they hadn’t caught him.”
The details are sketchy at the moment. TON will bring you more details on this.
