2 Men Arrested For Stealing Church Instrument In Lagos

 
A 53-year old man, Oluwole Solaja, and Sodiq Daramola, 36, were on Thursday arraigned before a Chief Magistrate in Badagry, Lagos State, for allegedly stealing musical instruments.
The accused, whose addresses are unknown, are facing a two-count charge of breach of peace and stealing before Chief Magistrates Abiodun Etti.
                The prosecutor, Insp. Innocent Uko, told the court that the accused persons had on March 17 at 12:00 p.m, stolen musical instruments which belonged to their
church in the Imeke area of Badagry.
Uko said the accused stole two speakers, two lead guitars, a drum set and two lamp holders, valued at N100, 000.
              "One of the accused was a founding member of the church, so no one suspected that he could commit such crime" he said. "They went to the church in the pretence that they wanted to repair the instruments, when they took them, they disappeared".
The prosecutor said that the offence contravened Sections 166 (D) and 285 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2011.
                However, counsel to the accused, Idowu Sedgla, pleaded with the court to grant the accused bail.
Sedgla assured that the accused would cooperate with all the parties for an amicable resolution of the matter.
Etti granted the accused bail in the sum of N500, 000 each, with one surety in like sum.
The magistrate adjourned the case till May 12, for further hearing.
